Barbara Mori has been offered a rumoured sum of over Rs 10 crore for a new Bollywood film. Barbara plays the lead role opposite TV star and rising Bollywood actor Rajeev Khandelwal in an upcoming film calledFever, to be directed by debutant Rajeev Jhaveri.
The film will be her third release in India after the Hrithik Roshan-starrerKites and Spanish Beauty.
The trade naturally is surprised at the news of Barbara being paid such a whopping sum, considering Bollywood generally reserves that kind of big money only for its top-bracket of actresses.
When we quizzed Ravi Agarwal, producer of Fever, on what prompted him to shell out such a huge amount on Barbara, he insisted the Mexican starlet was well worth the amount.
“It was not an easy task to convince Barbara to sign a new film. It took us three months to get in touch with her. We were keen to cast her because she suits the role. After we finally managed to meet her and narrate the script, she agreed to be a part of the film,” Agarwal, best known as the producer of the Himesh Reshammiya-starrer Radio, said.
Sources in the industry suggested that Barbara, who has already allotted dates for Fever, will be paid her fee in dollars.
“She was excited about the fact that our film will be shot entirely in Scotland. Our unit will land in the United Kingdom soon to finalise the locations.
“So far, we have only signed Barbara and Rajeev Khandelwal. The hunt is on for an Indian girl to play a parallel female lead. We plan to go on floors in the first week of June,” Agarwal said.
The producer, however, refused to confirm the exact amount being paid to Barbara.
“I cannot comment on how much I am paying my film’s heroine. Although there have been the initial talks, we are yet to decide on the exact amount,” Agarwal added.
Agarwal, however, insisted that casting Barbara was not a risky proposition.
“Barbara is star material. It is unfortunate that her talent was not properly tapped in her first film. For that matter, even Katrina Kaif’s debut film Boom didn’t do well but that didn’t stop filmmakers from casting her in subsequent films. As a producer, one can’t afford to be afraid of taking risks,” Agarwal said.
While the film’s director Jhaveri, is best known in Bollywood circles as the screenplay writer of Kucch To Haiand Dhoondte Reh Jaoge he has also edited a film called Devaki and has made a short film titled Cold Meat.

Barbara Mori has been cast for the new film ‘Fever’ for which she will allegedly charge a lump some amount of Rs.12 crores.
Barbara Mori RETURNS to Bollywood!
Mexican actress Barbara Mori, who played Hrithik Roshan’s love interest in “Kites”, has reportedly been signed for a whopping $300,000 (over Rs.13 crore) for “Fever”,
The hot Mexican beauty Barbara Mori who grabbed attention for her debut in Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kites’ is said to be making yet another attempt in Bollywood. Barbara will be seen in ‘Fever’, opposite Rajeev Khandelwal. The film will be produced by Ravi Agrawal and directed by Rajeev Jhaveri. ‘Fever’, Barbara plays the character of a linguist who is a second generation Briton. The film will be shot in virgin locations like Cornwall in England in June-July.
The Mexican hottie Barbara Mori started her Bollywood career with a dud, but signing her may burn a hole in the producers’ pockets.
It’s heard that the damsel is charging a fee of approximately Rs 1 crore for an upcoming Hindi film.
Barbara’s Bollywood aspirations are soaring high despite the crash-landing of Kites last year. The beauty has been roped in for the film titled Fever which will have the dashing man of the small-screen Rajeev Khadelwal opposite her.
But what’s galling is that Barbara, who hasn’t done any other Hindi film except ‘Kites’, is demanding an inordinate sum for her comeback.
In Fever, she will play the character of a linguist and it is learnt that Mori is being paid 300,000 dollars for the film. The movie will be shot in England and will be directed by Rajeev Jhaveri, who has made the award-winning short film Cold Meat.
Apart from Kites, Barbara was also seen in the dubbed version of the Mexican film Spanish Beauty, which had its share of takers. Now, with Fever, she’s set to make her mark, it seems.
In India, actresses struggle tooth and nail to reach the mark of Rs 1 crore. Barbara did that with one flop movie. Bingo!
